Induction Class of 2004


The National Soccer Hall of Fame's Induction Class of 2004 consists of FIFA Women's Player of the Century Michelle Akers, U.S. and Los Angeles Galaxy Star Paul Caligiuri, 1990 U.S. World Cup Team Captain Michael Windischmann and the All-Time U.S. Goal Scorer and MLS Star Eric Wynalda.

Biographies

Michelle was the most dominant player on the United States Women's National Team from 1985 until she retired in 2000. In 1999, Akers was named the FIFA Women's Player of the Century, as the top female soccer player in the world. In 2001, Michelle and her teammates from the 1991 Women's World Championship were awarded the Medal of Honor from the National Soccer Hall of Fame. more>

 

Paul was one of the most significant players in American soccer history for a variety of reasons. He was a pioneer in the movement of American-born players playing professional soccer overseas, and had a remarkable career with the United States Men's National Team. more>

 

Eric made his United States Men's National Team debut in 1990 against Costa Rica, while he was still a student at San Diego State University. His drive and desire earned him a place on the United States 1990 FIFA World Cup squad. more>

 

Michael, captain of the 1990 U.S. Men’s World Cup Team, has been elected to the Hall of Fame in the Veteran's Category by the vote of the Hall of Famers. The 1990 National Team returned the United States to the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 40 years by winning the qualification tournament. more>
