Alan
embraced the sport of soccer beginning his career
with the Los Angeles Aztecs of the NASL and the 1984
Olympic Games. Rothenberg then became engaged
in a prosperous tenure as the President of the United
States Soccer Federation, which prompted his nomination
as the Chairman, and CEO of the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
The unprecedented results of the tournament, hailed
as the most successful World Cup in history, aided
in the historic launch of Major League Soccer culminating
with the staging of the unforgettable 1999 FIFA Women’s
World Cup.
The Rothenberg
era will be remembered as one of unparalleled growth
and achievement that changed the course of Soccer
in the United States.
