The Balboa Era: The Early 1990's


                      

Marcelo Balboa was one of the most consistent defenders for the United States Men's National Team. Balboa made a name for himself at the 1994 World Cup with outstanding defensive performances. Balboa and the rest of the Men's National Team showed a renewed dedication to American Soccer on the world level competing in the World Cup in 1990 for the first time in 40 years. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005.
