Captain of the U.S. Men's National Team in World Cup qualifying in 1965 and coach of the national team in World Cup qualifying in 1972.

Class of 1989

First American-born coach in the NASL with St. Louis Stars 1969-1970. Played on the first St. Louis University High School team in 1943. A star for many years with St. Louis Kutis, beginning in 1949, playing in the U. S. Open Cup final in 1954. Longtime High School and club coach, winning numerous championships. Head Coach of Granite City High School 1973-1983. Head coach of the Bud Light Women’s Over 30 Women’s Team who were five time national finalists between 1983 and 1988. Appointed Director of Coaching for Busch Soccer Club in 1983. Radio and TV color commentator for the St. Louis Steamers of the Major Indoor Soccer League from 1983-1988. Inducted into the St. Louis Hall of Fame in 1983. Received the USSF Meritorious Service Award and the CYC Silver Boot Award. Elected to the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1989.
