James F. Moore


Grew up around the St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and attended school with a number of players who later starred for the great St. Louis teams of the 1930's.

Born: August 8, 1910 - St. Louis, MO

His first organized club was Gebken Undertakers in 1929 and he went on to play center forward and half back for teams such as St. Thomas, Marske Produce, South Side Smoke Shop, Anderson's and Eugene A.C. He retired from playing in 1939 and took up refereeing, eventually becoming president of the Referee's Association, having spent a total of 17 years as the man in the middle. But he had more to offer and turned his talents to administration and formed the St. Louis Soccer League. He became a delegate and then chairman of the Missouri Soccer Commission and represented that body as a delegate to the USSFA convention 20 times.
