Even while a student he became a
sports writer for the New York American and one of his assignments was to
cover local soccer leagues. In the
late 1930s he accepted the post of sports editor for the Wilkes-Barre Record
and in that position also became a sports caster for a local radio station. On returning to New York with the
outbreak of World War Two he went to work for the newspaper PM and there
added to his sports interests by involvement in the then-burgeoning labor
movement. At his death he was editor
of Local 888 News and 338 News. His interest in the theatre was developed through membership in
the world-famous Lambs Club and somehow he also found time for fraternal
activities and was president of Sports Lodge B'Nai B'rith from 1961 to
1963. He also founded and
published the Soccer News from the early 50s into the 70s. Along the way assembled an outstanding
research collection which he donated to the National Soccer Hall of
Fame. At one time he was a part
owner of New York Hakoah-Americans of the American Soccer League and was
also a charter member of the American Newspaper Guild. He was buried in Wilkes-Barre,
PA.
