Peter Merovich


Played in the West Penn Junior League starting in 1935 with the W.W. Riehl Juveniles and one year later in the Panhandle League for junior champions Castle Shannon.

From 1937 to 1956 played in the Keystone League of West Penn appearing in seven West Penn senior championship games. Played for Castle Shannon in the U.S. Amateur Cup final of 1946 at right back, losing to Fall River Ponta Delgada and took part in the final Olympic trials of 1948 in St. Louis. A frequent West Penn State Association and Keystone League all-star during a playing career which stretched from 1935 to 1957. Played for the Pittsburgh All-Stars against the Swedish club Jonkopping in 1950. Later he served as secretary-treasurer of both organizations. He spent many years as commissioner for the National Open, Amateur and Junior Cups and wrote for George Fishwick's National Soccer News.
