Robert T. Stone


Arrived in the United States in 1912 and was known as 'Mr. Soccer of Colorado' by his colleagues for his long career in promoting and developing soccer in the state. Managed the Sons of St. George in Denver 1927-1930.

Stone was a major founder of the Denver Soccer Club in 1934, serving as its first secretary. An organizer of the first National Amateur Junior Cup tournament. Served as secretary/treasurer of the Rocky Mountain Soccer-Football Association from 1936-1941. Helped reorganize this organization into the Colorado State Soccer Association in 1948 and served as president until 1954, and as secretary of the reorganized Association from 1963-1968. Became president of the Colorado Amateur Soccer League that same year. Was honored in 1968 by the State Association. Stone also coached junior and senior level teams and was an active soccer correspondent for the Colorado media.
