Frank Vaughn


One of the most colorful players of the late 1920s and early 1930s, and most successful players in St. Louis history, Vaughn enjoyed a long and successful career with Ben Millers.

He was a teammate of Ralph Tracy at Ben Millers, and both were selected to the U.S. national team that played in the 1930 World Cup at Montevideo, Uruguay. Also played with various teams on tours to South America and Sweden. Received his nickname, “bootnose” after his nose was broken by the ball during a game. Vaughn was well known for his ability to anticipate and break up opposition plays. Vaughn was elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame as a member of the 1930 United States World Cup Team.
