John Nanoski


Jukey Played the early part of his career for Westmoreland S.C., Lehigh S.C. and the Kensington Quoit Club, then at the start of the 1937-38 season began playing for the Kensington Blue Bells in the first division of the Pennsylvania League.

In his first year he was the league's leading scorer, tallying 54 goals, a first for a rookie, and helped the team win the league championship. One year later he began playing for Brooklyn St. Mary's Celtic of the American Soccer League and in 1939 was a member of the clubs National Open Cup winning team, scoring a total of three goals in the final. Later his ASL career continued with the Philadelphia Americans who won the ASL championship in 1944, 1947 and 1948. He also played for the Brooklyn Wanderers and Trenton Highlanders. In 1942 he represented the Metropolitan All-Stars against the Mexican club Atlante and in 1948 the Philadelphia Stars against the the English club Liverpool.

Where Are They Now: Jukey started playing soccer when he was 12 years old, only the soccer ball he used back in the 1930’s looked a lot different than the soccer balls of today - it was smaller, thicker, and brown - resembling a handball. more>
