Joseph Maca


Played for the Belgian Third Division team La Forestoise in Brussels before the war and later was awarded a medal for his role in the resistance.

Spent 12 months in the Belgian Army where he played for the Army team. Moved to the U.S. following the war and played for Brooklyn Hispano in the American Soccer League. Played right half for the American Soccer League All-Stars against Scotland in 1949 and center half against Inter-Milan in the same year. In that same year he also played for the New York Stars against Belfast Celtic and Inter-Milan. In 1950 he played center half for the ASL All-Stars against the Turkish team Besiktas. In that same year he became a member of the U.S. World Cup team playing at left back in all three games in Brazil. Following the World Cup returned to Belgium where he played briefly for Racing White, before returning the U.S. to stay. Back in the U.S. he played left half for the ASL All-Stars against an English F.A. touring team in 1951.
